Hindrances To Bible Interpretation

As Bible students, we are called to “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).  Yet, we see many who misunderstand, mishandle and miss out on the truth of Scripture.  Why, when the Bible says we should understand, do so many seem to misunderstand and mishandle the truth?
