Jesus’ Parable of the Fruitless Fig Tree (Luke 13:6-35)

Within the pages of Scripture, we find a rather extensive list of references to the vine and fig.  This backdrop is helpful to us in hearing the references of Jesus and other New Testament texts with first-century ears.  Let us take a look at this text in Luke 13 and consider what Jesus was saying to this first-century crowd and how message ought to speak to us today.
